You have to be strong minded: mind over matter
When your stomache says ‘I’m hungry, growl’, you know it’s lying.
Your stomach is against you, put it on the ‘Can’t be trusted’ list.
Make a ‘Can’t be trusted list’
To add to that list is family and friends.
I’m serious, your mum/dad will ALWAYS think you are too thin, even when you’re fat
And your friends won’t like it when you start losing weight
When you think you can’t keep it up, just think: it’s a struggle at first, but it gets easier
Vitamin pills keep you from looking gaunt, and should be taken first thing in the morning with some - oh no! - FOOD. Otherwise they will make you want to go to bed or something backwards. However, I find them affective with 1/4 of a cup of cereal.
Vitamin pills are also good for stopping binge eating, because you usually crave something when you’re lacking in something else.
Getting up early is not only good for your body clock, but it boosts the metabolism and kick starts your day.
Exercising as soon as you wake up burns more calories than if you were to exercise after school, work etc.
Eating breakfast or what not before one hour of waking up also kick starts the metabolism.
Coffee is great, keep that in mind. Like actually great.
If you want to con someone into not feeling hungry so they don’t force you to eat, suggest coffee first
Green tea is great as well.
Not only is it good for your skin, (which helps if you are malnourished), but if you have a few cups before bed it speeds up the metabolism and you lose weight in your sleep
Smoking: just stating the facts not asking anyone to take it up, supresses eating.
If you don’t go overboard with it, I don’t see the harm. Well, any more harm than starving yourself
Note: you need the right frame of mind, if you can’t “not eat” then I do not suggest not eating until you have this frame of mind, otherwise you will binge
Note the note: There is no way to get into that frame of mind just by saying ‘I’m in that frame of mind now’. No, only YOU can make it happen.
Sometimes you will wake up and just have it, it might take several failed attempts before it happens.
Weighing yourself regularly is helpful, once you see you’ve lost some weight you’ll want to lose more; it’s addictive. And if you want to lose more weight, you don’t want to eat…
Exercise, in combination with not eating is the best way to do it.
You lose more weight daily.
Don’t like exercise? Just start by walking somewhere, skipping is good.
Even if it’s just for thirty seconds at a time, notice that it all adds up.
Buy a pedometer, you’ll naturally want to walk more everyday.
Brushing your teeth before dinner makes your brain think ‘well this is the end of the day, almost time for bed, I’ve already brushed my teeth so no more food.’
Throwing up ONLY works once in a while. If you do this regularly you will notice that you are not losing any weight, in fact you might be gaining some.
Creating goals and rewards, (NOT FOOD REWARDS!!), more regularly helps. Even if the rewards are smaller and more frequent it’s the best way to do it I’ve found.
Never skip breakfast.. Even if it’s a quarter of a cup of cereal, it puts you in the frame of mind that you’ve already eaten and don’t need anything else.
If you can keep this frame of mind for the whole day, you’re on the right track.
Water keeps you feeling fuller. If you weigh yourself after drinking water and see that you haven’t lost any weight, keep in mind it’s only water weight, and when you wake up the next day you would’ve lost some
Chewing your food slowly is good for a few reasons: it gives you time to think about what you’re eating
It looks like to family and friends you’re actually eating something substantial
The longer it takes for you to eat, the fuller you become.
(It takes twenty minutes for the brain/stomach to register that it’s eaten anything anyway)
Chewing gum!! Really important, even though chewing makes your stomach hungry, it makes your brain think you’re eating, and eventually the brain will override the stomach.
It also stops you from eating because lets face it, you can’t eat when you’ve got gum in your mouth…
Avoid places that make you eat: ie the kitchen or your friends house
Do not go into the kitchen unless you promise yourself you will not eat.
Note: sometimes when you think you can do it, you can’t.
If your family gives you dinner, say to them ‘Oh I’m just watching something’, and take it to your room, wrap it up in a plastic bag, and put it in the bin or under your bed to dispose for another time
DO NOT take “just one bite”, because chances are you won’t be able to stop
Binge eating: tell yourself ‘no matter how much I’ve eaten, if I keep eating it will just get worse. It’s okay, I stuffed up a little but if I stop now it’s okay.
DO NOT say to yourself, ‘doesn’t matter I fucked it up anyway.’
Wrong.
Stopping and catching yourself before going way overboard is hard, so keep a look out.
Alcohol keeps you at the same weight, even if you haven’t eaten for the whole day.
It also sabotages you, ‘I’m drunk, let’s get Maccas.’
Brain: ‘NO!’
You: ‘Fuck it.’
If you must drink, DON’T get smashed, and drink vodka with water and lemon and lime. Tastes better than you think.
That’s all I can think of for now, feedback would be great.
And if I remember any more, I’ll let you know :)
Oh ya, and if it’s Christmas etc and you have to eat, chose how much you are going to eat before you start eating.
And when desert comes around, say ‘no thanks, I’m full’.
If you have to throw up, make sure you drink PLENTY of water in between bites, it makes it much easier…
